A Ferrari tuned for additional performance? That hardly seems like news, now does it? There’s nothing wrong with shaving a few more seconds off of those lap times, though. The 458 Speciale builds on the 458 Italia’s impressive platform, adding additional power and technology to the mid-engine supercar.
The 458 Speciale boasts Ferrari’s most powerful naturally aspirated engine ever, with 596 horsepower. Ferrari has also added active aerodynamics, improving the car’s aerodynamic efficiency and balancing downforce front and rear. A new Side Slip-angle Control system manages torque to improve stability while cornering hard, and is augmented by new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tires. Ferrari has tuned the 458 Speciale for improved grip in both dry and wet conditions.
The car makes its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor show this September. Ferrari also says that the 458 Speciale’s active aerodynamics will be used across the range going forward.
