There’s no surprise here–Volvo has announced that the all-new V60 will feature the range of new “Drive-E” engines that the Swedish brand recently unveiled.
Front-wheel drive V60s will feature a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 240 horsepower, while all-wheel drive V60s will continue with engines from the current lineup. The full Volvo line will eventually switch over to the Drive-E engines, which are tuned for much lower emissions and better fuel economy. Higher horsepower ratings are an added benefit–the new V60 will be one of the most powerful four-cylinder Volvo wagons ever. Volvo’s Drive-E engines have also been designed to be easily converted to hybrids.
The rest of the V60’s engine lineup includes the current T5 2.5 liter five-cylinder turbo, which produces 250 horsepower, and the T6 3.0 liter straight-six turbo, whose 325 horses make the V60 R-Design into a serious performance wagon.
