The annual Specialty Equipment Marketing Association Show (SEMA) in Las Vegas is known for inspiring all manner of automotive mutants and monsters, and this year’s show will be no exception. Hyundai recently announced that it will be partnering with Bismoto to build a conceptual Genesis Coupe cranking out 1000 horsepower.
Drawing additional power from stock engines is one of Bismoto’s skills. The Genesis Coupe’s R-Spec stock 3.8 liter V6 is seriously upgraded with new internals including injectors, camshafts, forged pistons and a new head. Large twin turbochargers with a massive intercooler have also been installed. Many of the upgraded parts are already available from the aftermarket, and Bismoto claims that reliability is not significantly affected.
After making the engine into a crazy thing, Bismoto tweaked the exterior as well, so the Genesis Coupe sports custom paint, a new hood and decklid and graphics, also all from existing aftermarket suppliers.
The Bismoto Genesis Coupe will be on display at SEMA this year.
