Chevrolet has announced that as of October 14, the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant will resume its public plant tours.
Also, new Corvette owners will again be able to participate in the following popular customer programs that correspond with National Corvette Museum: Buyers Tour, Corvette Photo Album and Museum Delivery. This gives new owners a fun way to make their purchasing experience more memorable.
The reason for the plant tour being discontinued last fall was their $131-million plant upgrade in anticipation of their production of the 2014 Corvette Stingray.
Since June 1981 GM’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant has made all Corvettes. Its had tours pretty much since day one. Part of the evolution of the tour program in its 30+ year history is its partnership with Western Kentucky University where they get student interns to serve as tour guides. Currently there are around 30 such interns.
The new Corvette Stingray started shipping to dealers on Sept 18. The 2014 Corvette Convertible is priced $56,995 including destination and the new Corvette Stingray Coupe starts at $51,995 including destination.
Tours are still $7 per person and consist of a one-mile walking tour of the Corvette production line. You can take the tours Monday through Friday at 8:30am, 11:30am and at 2pm CDT. To learn about tour guidelines and make reservations (strongly recommended), please visit www.corvetteassembly.com
