Hyundai’s Veloster Turbo lends itself well to customization, and we’ll see one of the wildest Velosters yet at this year’s Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. Starting with a brilliant yellow paint called “Yellowcake,” Hyundai and EGR Group have teamed up to build a Veloster designed for night-racing time-attack competition.
The Yellowcake paint was created by EGR and PPG, and it’s joined on the modified Veloster by a roof-mounted LED light bar and custom headlights. A widebody kit and rear spoiler by EGR combined with a lowered suspension change the Veloster’s silhouette nicely, and DPE three-piece racing wheels complete the package. The interior has been gone through as well, with racing seats and harnesses and custom upholstery.
To make the Veloster a true racer, a custom roll cage has been added, improving the car’s rigidity and safety. The 1.6 liter turbocharged four-cylinder under the hood has undergone a thorough makeover as well, with tuning by Bismoto Engineering and a MagnaFlow exhaust. The suspension’s got a coil-over suspension and upgraded strut bar and brakes, as well as semi-slick tires.
The Yellowcake Veloster will debut at the SEMA show on November 5-8.
