In the absence of any actual clear photos (as opposed to the wishful-thinking Photoshop images littering the Internet) leaking from Ford’s offices in Dearborn, Mich., Driving Fans has only the persistent rumors that the Ford Evos concept vehicle of a couple of years ago will not be the next Mustang. Although stunning to look at, the Evos was considered too “Euro” to please the Mustang faithful. Instead, a more evolutionary design will retain much of the current ‘Stang’s character, only more aero-looking.
Other than that, we’re in the dark about one of the most-speculated redesigns for the next year. Will the new Mustang continue its retro trend, drawing inspiration from another generation of vehicles, or does Ford intend to take the car in an entirely new direction? Driving Fans does know that the car will showcase a more modern interior and an new four-cylinder engine – a turbocharged 2.3-liter unit, to be precise – that will make a reported 310 horsepower. The Mustang’s 305-horsepower V6 and 420-horse 5.0-liter V8 return, however the V8 will be replaced by a 500-horsepower version during the 2015 model year.
