Trolling sites with unique cars for sale is second-nature to me some days, and I can waste hours at Bring a Trailer and Barn Finds. Sometimes something pops up that’s so cool I’m compelled to share. Such is the case with this 1957 Chevrolet wagon that was turned into a drag racer some time in the 1960s. Barn Finds stumbled across it on eBay, and it’s quite a unique period piece.
Even though it’s being sold without an engine or transmission, the old draggin’ wagon sports an amazing period paint job that identifies it as one of Steve Ames’ early projects. Ames went on to establish Ames Performance Engineering, a purveyor of Pontiac parts. Period stickers on the unrestored racer give it even more of an authentic, forgotten-in-a-barn feel. The car’s still on eBay with its reserve not met: check it out at http://www.barnfinds.com/1957-chevrolet-drag-wagon/
