During Driving Fans’ trip to SEMA, it seemed like the Jeep Wrangler was one of the most frequently-modified vehicles there. Turns out we weren’t imagining things: for the fourth year running, the Wrangler has been honored as the “Hottest 4×4/SUV” of the show. The Wrangler has always lent itself to personalization and modification, and the possibilities seem endless.
Mopar is happy to take advantage of this, with an extensive catalog of performance parts and accessories for the Wrangler. There are over 300 aftermarket parts available for the Jeep from Mopar alone. Chrysler’s accessories arm recently created Jeep Performance Parts to provide high-end off-roading parts for the Wrangler.
SEMA President and CEO Chris Kersting said, “Consumers are increasingly interested in customizing vehicles, so having an accessory-friendly platform is important. The Jeep Wrangler has consistently ranked Number One as the Hottest 4×4-SUV since the inception of the SEMA Award, a clear reflection of its versatility.”
Among the Jeep Performance Parts available for 2014 are beefed-up Dana 44 front and rear axles, lift kits, winches and skid plates. A new headliner for the Jeep’s hardtop is also new, offering a quieter ride and better heating and cooling. Mopar offers a “Trail Rated” kit that includes a tow strap, heavy-duty D-rings, and a pair of gloves in a convenient carrying bag. And to spice up the Wrangler’s appearance, a satin black grille and nose cap are available.
The pesky issue of the Wrangler’s too-small sun visors is also addressed by Mopar, with a fold-down side visor that cuts glare from the side.
And remember, that’s just what’s available from Mopar. A quick stroll across the SEMA show floor revealed that there are entire companies whose sole focus is upgrading the Wrangler. Jeep’s iconic off-roader can be turned into a rock crawler, a farm truck, a tow vehicle or an expedition camper with equal ease.
