It’s one thing to take your truck out to a tailgate BBQ. It’s quite another to use the truck as the BBQ. West Coast Choppers and Toyota teamed up with Texas restauranter Tim Love to turn the Tundra pickup into a mobile high-end BBQ machine.
Led by Jesse James, West Coast Choppers installed an eight-foot combination Kitchen Aid oven and white oak chopping block on an extendable slider in the Tundra’s bed. The truck also features two coolers for carrying meat and stainless steel condiment holders. Custom iron oven grates sear the meat with a Texas Longhorn and Texas’ “Come and Take It” slogan. The Tundra’s built in Texas, so the truck has a special connection to the state. Similarly, Love’s signature grilled, roasted and slow-cooked meats can be enjoyed in several iconic Texas restaurants, including the Lonesome Dove Western Bistro, Woodshed Smokehouse and the White Elephant Saloon.
The Tundra’s exterior is modified with a four-inch lift, big black fender flares, N-FAB nerf steps and Method Race wheels shod in fat General off-road tires.
“We didn’t want anything silly. We wanted a high-end look to go along with the fully serviceable chef’s kitchen,” James said. “Nothing is visible until you slide out the stovetop from the back. It came out great.”
