Fresh off of a successful season in Formula One with Red Bull Racing, Infiniti is bringing an F1-inspired Q50 concept to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month. The Q50 “Eau Rouge” concept is named for the famous corner at the Spa-Francorchamps track and styling influenced by the brand’s participation in F1.
The Spa raceway in Belgium’s famed Eau Rouge corner is the most famous part of the track, featuring a steep uphill left turn that leads into a series of rights and lefts. It’s known for requiring great skill and daring to navigate with maximum speed. Additionally, the steep hill that follows it requires drivers to carry as much speed through the corner as possible, or be quickly overtaken by bolder cars. Drivers agree that the best way through Eau Rouge is flat-out. Unfortunately, it’s also a blind corner–hence the skill and daring necessary to make it through with the best.
Infiniti hopes to infuse the Q50 with some of that legend. We’ll have more when the concept is unveiled in Detroit–and we’ll find out if Detroit’s legendary Nain Rouge has anything to say about it.
