Mercedes gave the journalists assembled for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit their first look at the all-new 2015 C-Class as the car was unveiled by Kelly Rowland in a special private event prior to the show. The C-Class has been teased and revealed in numerous photos, but took the stage officially in Detroit.
The all-new C-Class is notable for bringing a number of features found in the larger and more luxurious E- and S-Class models to a more affordable price point. Unlike past C-Class models, which have sometimes been noticeably cheaper, the new C-Class shares the larger cars’ AIRMATIC air suspension with “Magic Body Control” and the Intelligent Drive suite of driver aids including a sophisticated cruise control system that enables semi-autonomous driving.
The restyled C-Class once again features distinct styling for sport and luxury models, which are differentiated even more than in the past. Interior materials have been improved so much that the C-Class seems to hail from a much higher tax bracket than it actually does, with high-quality upholstery and leather to coddle the passengers.
A plug-in hybrid model will also be offered after the start of production.
