Cadillac’s lightweight sports sedan has been popular since it debuted, offering nimble handling and the world-class luxury that Cadillac’s restored to its storied nameplate. Now that there’s a Cadillac that can compete with the sports sedan kings from Audi and BMW, it’s time to expand that range to include a two-door.
Wider tracks front and rear and a lighter body combine to give the ATS Coupe a performance edge over the sedan, as well as other coupes in its class. It’s available with the four- and six-cylinder engines offered in the ATS sedan, with a slight performance bump. The 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder is up to 272 horsepower, and the 3.6 liter V6 makes 321 horses. Torque on the four-cylinder has also been increased, pushing it to BMW 4-Series levels. Six-speed transmissions are standard across the board, and all-wheel drive is also offered.
Cadillac backs up the ATS Coupe’s nimble handling with driver-assistance technologies like front and rear auto-brake, a lane departure warning, blind spot warning and an available head-up display. The CUE infotainment system is also available, and upgraded with 4G LTE connectivity, a built-in wi-fi hotspot, and text-to-speech message relaying.
Styling is similar to that of the sedan, though the ATS Coupe shares almost no sheet metal with its four-door counterpart. LED lighting is used front and rear, and the coupe features clean, uncluttered styling with a new, stretched version of the Cadillac crest on its grille.
The 2015 ATS Coupe goes on sale this summer, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.
