For the past few years, Scion’s premium-compact thunder has been getting stolen by well-equipped and attitude-filled cars from Kia, MINI and others. Scion is fighting back for 2014, with the new Monogram series adding elegance to the FR-S and tC.
Scion’s coupes haven’t gone soft, but the Monogram series adds many premium features and upscale looks for an affordable price. The FR-S features heated leather seats with Alcantara inserts, a pushbutton start, HID headlamps, dual-zone climate control and other upscale features. It’s available in all of the standard FR-S colors and production will be limited to 2000 units. Scion has set pricing at $27,400 when equipped with a six-speed manual and $28,500 for a six-speed sequential automatic.
The tC Monogram series will be similarly equipped: leather, heated seats, a rear wiper, special floor mats and console accent stitching. Pricing’s set at $21,400 and $22,400 respectively for the manual and automatic.
Both Monogram series cars feature Scion’s new Service Boost program, which covers factory-scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles.
“Through this limited edition Monogram Series, Scion brought together extra comforts and conveniences in the FR-S and tC without sacrificing value,” said Scion Vice President Doug Murtha. “By incorporating these features as standard for a limited time, we provide a great price to go head-to-head with the competition and encourage more drivers to get excited about experiencing a Scion.”
