Artistic teens will have the opportunity to showcase their design skills and possibly win prizes and design school experience when they participate in the “Autorama High School Design Competition 2014,” hosted by Chrysler.
To be eligible for this competition, one must be a student currently attending a Michigan public high school. Designs must be eco-friendly and innovative, keeping in mind the needs of automotive customers. Students are welcome to create vehicles inspired from any of the Chrysler brands:
Dodge, Ram Truck, Chrysler, Jeep, FIAT or even SRT (Street and Racing Technology).
“We created this design competition a year ago as a way to creatively connect with the youth of the Motor City. Now, with the help once again from the College for Creative Studies and Detroit Autorama,” said Mark Trostle, Head of SRT, Mopar and Motorsports Design, Chrysler Group LLC, “we’re opening the competition up to all Michigan public high schools to showcase talent throughout the entire state and hopefully inspire new and aspiring automotive designers.”
Entries must be submitted on one sheet of white paper between the sizes 8×10” and 11×17” and must be drawn by hand using markers, paint or pencils. Entries must also contain the student’s name, home address, email, phone number, grade level, and school name and address. One may use a separate piece of paper to describe the design.
For an entry to be considered, it must arrive at Chrysler Group’s Product Design Office by Friday, January 10, 2014. It can be sent via email or US mail.
Submissions to be judged by faculty members from College for Creative Studies and designers from the Chrysler Group Product Design.
On January 31, 2014 the finalists will be announced. There is an awards presentation event scheduled for March 7 at Cobo Hall in Detroit that will be part of the kick off of the 62nd annual Meguiar’s Detroit Autorama, which runs from March 7-9
