Aston Martin joins Lamborghini and Bugatti in the ultra-limited edition market with its bespoke Vanquish Volante Neiman Marcus edition, of which just ten will be produced. The car was introduced at Pebble Beach this summer, and will make its first public appearance at the Los Angeles International Auto Show next week.
The car, whose body is made entirely of carbon fiber, was inspired by the 1969 DB6 Volante owned by HRH Prince of Wales. Aston’s “Q by Aston Martin” bespoke department handled the conversion and it is a part of Neiman Marcus’ 2013 Fantasy Christmas Catalog. The first Vanquish Volante models to arrive on the U.S. market will be Neiman Marcus editions.
There’s more than just a rare and pretty face here. Aston’s 6.0 liter V12 engine provides 565 horsepower, and the Vanquish Volante tops out at 183 mph. Aston reports a 4.1- second 0-60 run,and a rear transaxle keeps the weight balanced front to rear. The adaptive suspension has been recalibrated for use in the convertible, and carbon-ceramic brakes (painted blue in the Neiman Marcus edition) are part of the package. The convertible top is lightweight and folds in just fourteen seconds. In addition to the brake calipers, the Neiman Marcus edition is further set apart by unique wheels, Seychelles blue paint with a matching soft top, and additional chrome. Inside, walnut veneer decorates the console and the trim is blue and black leather. There’s also a matching luggage set.
