There wasn’t much doubt that the Subaru BRZ would return; the flyweight sports car had enthusiasts’ hearts buzzing from the moment it was introduced last year. With sales of the 2+2 remaining good, Subaru’s released 2014 pricing. The BRZ remains a fairly affordable sports car, with a starting price of $25,595. New equipment includes the Aha infotainment system that integrates smartphone apps into the standard navigation system.
The rear-drive coupe, a joint venture with Toyota, is a bit of a departure for Subaru, but the car’s light weight and low center of gravity provide undeniably entertaining handling. Coupled with a 200-horsepower boxer four-cylinder and a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions, the BRZ is a serious enthusiast’s vehicle that still returns over 30mpg on the freeway. Standard equipment includes a limited-slip differential and a front strut tower brace.
The BRZ is available in Premium and Limited trim levels. The Limited starts at $27,595 and adds heated seats, dual-zone climate control, fog lights and Alcantara seating.
