Hennessey’s making a habit out of maxing out cars on closed public roads. Having access to the Grand Parkway Texas toll road outside of Houston before it was opened this summer probably didn’t hurt, of course. After taking the new Stingray up to 200mph earlier this year, the high-performance experts put a Chevrolet SS sports sedan that had been modified by graduates of Hennessey’s Tuner School through its paces as well.
A new HPE600 Supercharger system for the SS is now available, and it easily takes Chevy’s new full-size sports sedan up to its electronically-limited top speed of 163mph. Hennessey points out that the limiter will only let the SS hit maximum velocity in fifth gear, and sixth is limited to 163, so the potential top speed is actually somewhat higher. How much more does the SS have in it?
