Chrysler’s Mopar parts division, together with The Chrysler Foundation and the United Way, delivered vehicles full of necessities for babies to Southeastern Michigan Indians, Inc during the last week of August. Among the items donated to SEMII were diapers, strollers, baby clothes, toys, bottles and books. These supplies were donated and collected by Mopar employees. The delivery (no pun intended) was made by Chrysler employees. The Chrysler Foundation (Chrysler’s charitable group) gave SEMII a $7,500 grant to enable it to purchase additional items for babies in need.
“All of these items will be put to good use by families in our community,” said Sue Franklin the executive director of SEMII. “We are grateful to all of the people at Chrysler and Mopar for their time, effort and donations.”
In partnership with the United Way, Mopar continues to offer aid to SEMII, which is located two blocks away from Mopar’s main parts distribution facility in Centerline, Mich. Southeastern Michigan Indians Inc. works hard to provide social services to Native Americans in Macomb County, Mich.
This isn’t the first time Mopar has lent a hand to SEMII. In 2012, volunteers from Mopar sponsored a clothing drive called Dress for Success to help provide professional attire to people in need, and they even repainted SEMII’s cultural center.
