Nissan is upgrading the Versa for 2015 with a new model. The Versa Note SR was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show this week, and it moves Nissan’s micro-compact upmarket. The Versa Note is already a pleasing entry-level car, and the Note SR features enough toys to turn it into a bona fide premium compact. Unique sixteen-inch wheels and exterior modifications like a unique front fascia and smoked head- and taillamps boost the Versa Note SR’s curb appeal.
With this car, Nissan is paying attention to the customers who are purchasing smaller cars not because it’s all they can afford, but because they prefer them. For those buyers, Nissan is offering many of the same amenities available in larger vehicles, so it’s easier to choose to stay small. The Versa Note SR has all the toys, including a 350Z-style steering wheel and suede seat inserts. Orange accents dress up the cloth seats, the center console is finished in a rich-looking piano black, and there’s a Fine Vision triple-dial auxiliary gauge cluster. The list of standard equipment is long, and includes the NissanConnect infotainment system with a five-inch display, Sirius/XM satellite radio, heated front seats, keyless entry and a pushbutton ignition.
Power and drivetrain are the same as the rest of the Versa lineup, with a 1.6 liter four-cylinder producing 109 horsepower and 31/40 fuel economy.
