Speaking of the Nissan NV, Chevrolet’s borrowing it, the better to get in on the rapidly-growing compact commercial van market. The City Express is essentially a rebadged NV200, with Chevy-style taillights and a bowtie-grilled face. The newest Chevy commercial vehicle is ready for suburban delivery jobs.
Chevrolet’s answer to the Ford Transit Connect is all about the measurements: 122.7 cubic feet of cargo space. 52 inches of interior height, 48 inches of floor space between the wheel wells, and an 82.8-inch long cargo area, and a 1500-pound payload. In other words, the City Express will carry a lot of stuff.
The cargo space is easily customized, with over twenty mounting places for racks and shelves, six cargo tie-downs and a fold-flat passenger seat that can also be used as a workspace. The upright dash has been restyled with Chevy’s family styling, and bears some resemblance to the old Chevy Astro minivan. 122.7 cu ft cargo space, 48” between wheel wells.
The City Express is powered by Nissan’s capable 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine, producing 131 horsepower and 139 pound-feet of torque. A continuously variable transmission handles shifting duties, putting power to the ground through the front wheels. MacPherson struts are used up front, while the rear uses trucklike leaf springs. Business-friendly options like a navigation system and backup camera are also available.
