Dodge’s updated 2014 Durango goes on sale shortly, and the company has held the line on pricing. The 2014 Durango starts under $30,000 at $29,795 (excluding $995 destination) which is the same as the 2013 model. The upgraded Durango features additional standard features as well as new styling and capability.
The new Durango offers the crossover versatility and SUV sturdiness, better fuel economy and improved performance. The updated styling includes Dodge’s signature LED racetrack tail lights, projector headlamps and “floating” crosshair family grille. Seven-passenger seating is offered, and the Durango inherits the eight-speed automatic transmission that debuted in the Jeep Grand Cherokee. A choice of eighteen or twenty-inch wheels is offered. The interior features the Durango’s standard 3 rows of seating with 60/40 split fold and tumble second row. The front passenger seat folds flat. Since safety has always been a concern of SUV drivers, Dodge offers seven standard airbags, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes (ABS), active front headrests, electronic stability control.
The 2014 Dodge Durango is available in five trim levels: SXT, Citadel, Limited, Rallye, and R/T, ranging in starting U.S. MSRP (excluding destination) from $29,795 for the SXT to the Citadel at $40,995.
The Pentastar 3.6 liter V-6 engine with 260 lb.-ft. of torque and 290 horsepower is standard on the SXT, and offers a towing capacity of up to 6,200 pounds. At 25 miles per gallon on the highway and over 600 miles per tank, the Durango leads the class with its fuel efficiency. Other standard equipment includes class exclusive 192-LED “racetrack” tail lamps, trailer-sway control, speed sensitive variable intermittent wipers and deep-tint sunscreen glass.
