As exciting as the upcoming 2014 models that are just making their debuts are, there’s ample evidence that things will get even better for 2015 and beyond, in the form of spy photos from eagle-eyed shooters all around the globe. Driving Fans’ Spoiler Alert collects the coolest and most significant of these in once place. Check it out!
Autoblog’s photographers caught a heavily-disguised sport coupe that looks like it might be the upcoming Cadillac ATS-V. The ATS sedan has been a great addition to Cadillac’s portfolio, giving it both an entry-level luxury vehicle and a sporty challenger to the likes of BMW and Audi. A high-performance V model would no doubt be quickly nipping at the heels of the German sports sedans and further cement Cadillac’s growing reputation as an automotive force to be reckoned with. Autoblog predicts a twin-turbo V6 under the hood with more than 400 horsepower.
In other performance-car news, the disappointment that U.S. Volvo fans felt at the abrupt and perhaps untimely departure of the C30 Polestar may be soothed at the sight of this Polestar V60 caught by the spies at Autoguide. The V60 wagon will be headed to America shortly, and it’ll introduce Volvo’s new family of high-efficiency engines. With luck, we’ll also get this searing blue 350-horse power, all-wheel drive version with its performance tires and Brembo brakes.
Lincoln’s new MKZ is evidence that the brand may be on the mend and slowly marching back to respectability, and if it can follow that car up with more all-new product that success will become more assured. The folks at CarSpyPhotos.net caught the upcoming MKC crossover in near-production form, and there’s a chance that things just might turn out okay for the iconic American luxury nameplate. Very few details of the MKC’s underpinnings have leaked, but the exterior shares the MKZ’s unique looks and proportions.
Speaking of luxury vehicles, the Hyundai Genesis is due for a redesign. The Korean near-luxury sedan has drawn rave reviews, but it’s been kind of a wallflower design-wise, and Hyundai’s hoping to address that shortcoming with the second-generation car. The snapshots captured by CarSpyPhotos.net show a big sedan that’s heavily influenced by the HCD-14 Genesis Concept that appeared in Detroit this year, and in translation to the street the car seems to have retained its unique look. Given the lack of camouflage and the convenient “GENESIS” plate on the vehicle shown, there’s a good chance that we’re seeing the next Genesis in its final form here–perhaps it was out for a brochure photo shoot?
Autoblog caught some glimpses of the next-generation Mazda MX-5, which is expected to continue its mission as one of the simplest and most honest sports cars around, but is intriguing because it’s being developed jointly with Alfa Romeo and will share bits with the next Alfa Romeo Spider. The prototype caught testing at the Nürburgring doesn’t give away much styling, clad as it is in the current car’s sheet metal, but Autoblog points out that the car is visibly longer and wider, while retaining its long-hood, short-tail proportions.
