Lexus revealed some of its plans for the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, confirming the Japanese debut of the LF-NX concept and the unveiling of its new coupe. The new two-door takes a more aggressive, sporty stance than the genteel SC 430, and brings some of the aggressive, athletic look of the limited production LF-A to a more attainable price point.
The RC 350 will be available with a 3.5 liter V6, while the RC 300h features 2.5 liter hybrid power. Lexus has released photos of the new car in advance of its debut. With a wide, low “spindle” grille conveying a sporty nature, the RC is strongly influenced by the LF-LC, most notably in its triangular headlamp units. A striking three-lamp LED forms an “L” for Lexus, and the rear lamps echo this treatment. A choice of eighteen- and nineteen-inch wheels is offered, and a new painting process provides deeper, richer color and greater play of light over the car’s many curves. The interior gets Lexus’ high-luxury treatment, with contrasting-color trim, uniquely-processed “shimamoku” wood trim and theater-style, upward-reflecting ambient lighting.
More details on the RC 350 and RC 300h will be available when the car debuts.
The LF-NX concept was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier thus year. This compact crossover concept has since gained a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine that’s tuned for entertaining performance. The car’s front under-spoiler is lower, as is the car’s center of gravity. Lexus’ new remote-touch interface is also installed. The LF-NX appears to have begun the long march from concept to reality.
